In September, we took a pilgrimage to SweetiePie’s favorite place:

Jackson Hole, Wyoming. The trip was planned, like many of our excursions, in a few moments: “This weekend is free on the calendar, what do you want to do with it?”
SweetiePie had wanted to share this special place with me for quite a while. He has been a dozen times in his life, but I had never been. As a confirmed city girl, I expected to be somewhat underwhelmed, but boy was I wrong. We stayed a week, and I was not ready to leave. The unbelievable wildness of the place, combined with the constant animal sightings, was an adrenaline rush from sunrise to sunset.
We saw elk, beavers, coyotes, thousands of buffalo, pronghorns, deer, bald eagles, trumpeter swans, grizzly bears, a moose, and countless other birds. In Yellowstone, and in nearby Grand Teton, there is an unmistakable sense that the place belongs to the animals. Grizzlies, for example, are not particularly interested in people, but they have become more of a threat. We saw plenty of warning signs reminding visitors of their proper place.
I’ll save the story of the bear for another post–but have a look at the pictures of this gorgeous place and you too will fall in love. Click here to see the whole album at the new photoblog or go to (www.sweetphotostream.blogspot.com) for all the albums.
