I wear many hats. Literally. I have almost forty. My Mama would say: “You don’t have enough heads for those hats!”I am a TV Director and a Producing Director. Ava DuVernay graciously asked me to direct two episodes of the second season of her groundbreaking TV series Queen Sugar which airs on OWN. Ava has changed the entire landscape (and the numbers) by only hiring female directors and specifically hiring first-time female directors. She asked me to be producing director of season three. In addition to producing the entire season I directed three episodes, including the premiere. The seventh and final (sniff!) season of Queen Sugar is currently airing. I had the honor to direct the last two episodes before the Finale which was directed by Ava herself! I have directed on For The People ; The Red Line for CBS, How To Get Away With Murder, Station 19 and YOU for Netflix. I was also Producing Director on Self Made: Inspired by The Life of Madam CJ Walker on Netflix which starred Octavia Spencer and Blair Underwood who each won NAACP Image Awards (2021) for their roles- the series won too! I was Co-Executive Producer/Producing Director on Clarice – the TV sequel to THE SILENCE OF THE LAMBS for CBS/MGM and Naomi for Array/WB/CW about a Black teenage female superhero!
I am also a Commercial Director. A new spot for the Greater Boston Convention & Visitors Bureau (Boston Represent!) that I directed for Allen + Gerritsen will be dropping soon.
OH and I’m a Filmmaker (two features I wrote and directed premiered In Competition at The Sundance Film Festival and internationally at Edinburgh. LIFT was Kerry Washington’s first solo feature back in the day!) and I’m also a Sundance Fellow (Class of ’97) having attended both the Filmmaker’s and Writer’s Labs.
